50s SETS

While repairing the bridge pickup of a 1954 Stratocaster, Andreas Kloppmann realized during sound testing just how distinct the pickups from the 1954/55 period truly were. Guitars of this era featured pickups with the so-called short magnet on the G string, resulting in a fundamentally different sound compared to instruments produced after 1956. Consider Buddy Holly's recordings from 1956, crafted using a '55 Strat and a 1x15 Fender Pro Amp, as a prime example. Further remarkable instances of this unique and superb early '50s Strat sound can be heard in the legendary Hardtail Strats of Ronnie Wood and Billy Gibbons. This renewed appreciation motivated Andreas Kloppmann to re-examine the Strat pickups of the '50s and develop new models more aligned with the characteristic sounds of that era, ultimately leading to the creation of the Kloppmann ST 54 and ST 56 sets.

60s SETS

Drawing on three decades of winding experience, Andreas Kloppmann considers the creation of S-Style pickups to be the pinnacle of their craft. As experience has shown, achieving the perfect Strat tone requires a delicate balance of no less than eleven critical variables.

In his early years, Andreas Kloppmann was captivated by the sound of his '62 alder-bodied Stratocaster. His subsequent, albeit somewhat misguided, endeavor to make his '65 swamp ash-bodied Strat sound identical ultimately yielded two truly rewarding outcomes: a profound understanding of S-Style pickups and the development of his first pickup set, the acclaimed Real 62.
