The Grand Master Peter Weihe wanted highly sensitive pickups offering a vast array of sounds and emotions at differing settings of the volume control. To this end, Kloppmann created the HB-PW set. It covers all the bases and enchants with its bewitching tonal intensity. Whether creamy high gain or airy and clean, the HB-PW achieves an engaging balancing act. The emotion of searing lead sounds in the highest ranges in combination with clarity and definition on the lower strings, always adeptly avoiding any muddying of tones, is well beyond the reach of lesser pickups.
Note:Potentiometers and capacitors affect your sound very significantly. Most companies ship guitars without measuring these parts, so it's always a "hit and miss" story. For best results, I recommend pairing this set with the Kloppmann premium prewired kit, which is listed below.
Voicing: Highly volume-responsive — designed by Andreas Kloppmann to Peter Weihe's spec for dynamic range from clean to high gain without muddying on the low strings
Output level: Moderate, in the vintage PAF range — not a hot-rodded or ceramic humbucker
Magnets: Alnico (in the PAF tradition — Kloppmann selects magnet grade to match each set's voicing)
String spacing: G-spaced (49 mm) — built for Gibson-style spacing rather than F-spacing
Covers: Nickel silver, nickel plated. Other cover materials and aging treatments may be available on request — message me before ordering if you want something specific
Mounting: Standard humbucker route; no body modifications required for most Les Paul, SG, and other Gibson-style installations
